Howard Kennedy has confirmed Vernon Dennis, head of corporate recovery and reconstruction is to become an equity partner from 1 April 2012.
Dennis joined Howard Kennedy in 2007 to set up the firm’s first ever dedicated corporate recovery and reconstruction service group.
Since then, the practice area has grown year on year, with the team enjoying a high profile roster of clients from the finance, turnaround, restructuring and insolvency world.
The company said that the independent thinking and approach in providing business reconstruction solutions has been important to the team’s development.
During his tenure, Vernon Dennis was commended by a client in the Chambers directory: ‘If you get snookered and need creativity then he provides excellent lateral commercial solutions.’
Since the arrival of chief executive Mark Dembovsky in January 2011, the firm underwent changes including the implementation of a partnership programme.
The successful initiative involves senior colleagues providing candidates with significant mentoring and support and has already been seen in the promotion of Naylah Hamour and Samantha Hook to partnership at the end of 2011.
Michael Harris, head of corporate and a member of the firm’s management committee, said: “Vernon Dennis has been instrumental in setting up the corporate recovery and reconstruction service group.
“The Track-to-Partnership initiative is proving successful in identifying the partners of the future.
“We are determined to invest in fresh talent and have a number of other fee earners currently being mentored through the programme, be it to enter equity or partnership.”
