A roundup of this week's promotions and new appointments

• Andrew Bell of law firm Halliwells’ Manchester office has been promoted to partner.
• Neil Dempsey is to join Begbies Traynor and head up its new Aberdeen office.  Neil joins from KPMG.
• Northamptonshire-based business recovery and insolvency specialists Marshman Price have appointed Gary Pettit as a director.  Gary will head up a new office for the firm in Northampton city centre, opening in April.  Gary has been qualified since 1999 and has most recently worked with an overseas firm.
