Two new hires for Moorfields

Midlands restructuring and insolvency firm Moorfields Corporate Recovery has announced two new hires.

Neil Hickling and Claire Morris have joined the firm from the Worcester office of Smith and Williamson.

Hickling joins Moorfields with 30 years of insolvency experience advising financially distressed companies and individuals, while Morris had spent 13 years at Smith and Williamson, with particular experience in personal insolvency.

Phil Smith of Moorfields said: “We are delighted to welcome both Neil and Claire to the team they will significantly strengthen our service offering outside London and allow us to provide an enhanced service to intermediaries.”

Hickling said: “I am looking forward to working with Moorfields and supporting their continued expansion. The Midlands was one of the worst areas hit by the recession and suffered some of the highest unemployment rates.

“Whilst the region is making a recovery businesses will need to plan carefully for future growth to ensure they continue to survive and compete.”

Specialist insolvency litigator joins Olswang

Contentious insolvency litigator Louise Bell has joined international law firm Olswang as partner in the litigation team.

Bell has specialist experience of contentious insolvency cases and will work with the Commercial Litigation, Insolvency and Civil Fraud teams at Olswang to support the firm’s offering to lenders, borrowers, corporates and insolvency practitioners internationally.

Bell’s previous clients include KPMG, Grant Thornton, BDO, FRP Advisory, Moore Stephens and Griffins, with further experience working for a number of banks pursuing recovery options outside of a formal insolvency, such as Lloyds Banking Group, Clydesdale Bank Plc and National Australia Bank.

Bell also advises chartered bodies, including the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Alicia Videon, head of restructuring and insolvency at Olswang, commented: “Louise is a great addition to our team.

“Her track record of acting in complex contentious insolvency cases, especially where there is an international element, complements our existing offering.

“After the launch of Olswang Restructuring Solutions in Germany at the start of this year, this is another step towards building on Olswang’s team of dedicated lawyers in the UK, France, Germany and Spain, specialising in restructuring and insolvency law”.
