Harrisons expands Worcester team
For her experience in insolvency, business turnaround and rescue, Carrie James has been appointed as a manager at the Worcester office of Harrison Business Recovery and Insolvency.
Having recently qualified as an insolvency practitioner, James has worked in insolvency for 17 years, 13 of which have been at management level across corporate and personal insolvency working with SMEs across the West Midlands.
Louise Hookham, director at Harrisons, said: “Carrie will build on Harrisons’ presence in Worcester and more widely across the West Midlands, bring additional work to the practice and continue brand growth.”
James said: “The Worcester office has gained a solid reputation over the years and I am looking forward to growing our business in this region.”
New chair for North West R3 group
In the North West, Katie Norman has been chosen to head a new group of young professionals working the insolvency sector.
Chairing the R3 North West New Professional Group, Katie Norman will oversee the regularly schedules social events for professionals below partner level.
Launched by insolvency trade body R3, the group and events are open to both members and non-members.
Katie Norman, corporate recovery solicitor at Gateley LLP in Manchester, said: “The North West is the biggest centre outside London for the insolvency profession.
“The group will provide opportunities for those in the early stages of their career to develop their professional networks and have fun at the same time.”
Four new hires at Duff & Phelps
Duff & Phelps has had a particularly busy period for appointments, adding to its staff of more than 180 professionals across its four UK offices.
The Restructuring team welcomes James Cook and Mark Skelton, who will focus on large and cross-border restructuring, as well as distressed transactions.
Both previously held senior positions in the Financial Advisory & Restructuring Services team at a global independent advisory firm.
Paul Clark, who leads the UK Restructuring business alongside David Whitehouse, said: “James and Mark bring significant restructuring experience as well as cross-border expertise to our team in London.”
Joining the M&A team, Joel Hope-Bell and Henry Wells will focus on business and support services, offering specific sector expertise to UK companies and financial sponsors.
