Baker Tilly aim for Alpha sale 25 July 2013

Restructuring and recovery firm Baker Tilly has been appointed to the administration of printing business Alpha Media Solutions Ltd.

Adrian Allen and Lindsey Cooper were appointed as joint administrators on 24 July 2013.

Allen, partner at Baker Tilly, said: “Along with many firms in this sector, Alpha Media Solutions has experienced difficult trading conditions and in recent months has been loss making.

“The directors have taken steps to attempt to restructure the company’s cost base but difficulties in obtaining credit lines with suppliers has meant that the business in its current form is no longer viable.

“We are looking to sell the company’s business and assets with a view to maximising recoveries for creditors.”

Alpha Media Solutions, incorporated in 2006, specialised in lithographic printing and print finishing.

Following the appointment of administrators, the company’s 61 staff have been made redundant.

Allen said: “There is very little in the way of work in progress to complete and given the business is currently loss making we have taken the decision to cease trading and make the employees redundant.”

In April this year, Alpha Media Solutions completed the acquisition of Keighley-based commercial print business Steffprint via a pre-packaged administration.

The company had planned that Steffprint’s business would help plug some of the gap left when Alpha Media Solutions severed its contract with Z-Card at the end of 2012 in order to launch its own rival, Alpha Card.
