Former Atomic Kitten and reality TV star Kerry Katona has declared bankruptcy for the second time in five years.
Katona made a petition under the name Kerry Jane Elizabeth Katona at Wigan County Court yesterday.
She was originally declared bankrupt in 2008, owing around £1m to HM Revenue & Customs.
Bankruptcy statuses usually last for one year – Katona’s status was extended and lasted for almost three years.
Payday lender, PDB UK Ltd – which trades under the name Cash Lady – has now confirmed it has parted ways with Katona.
A spokesman for PDB UK said: “We were sorry to hear about Kerry’s current financial situation. Clearly, as a business, we are committed to responsible lending, so it is with sadness that we will not be able to continue using Kerry as the face of Cash Lady.
“We enjoyed working with Kerry a lot, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours.”
PDK UK has said it is “now considering our options with the next steps to take with Cash Lady.”
An advert for Cash Lady starring Katona was banned in May by The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
The ASA received 30 complaints about the 30-second TV advert, which was subsequently banned by the advertising watchdog after it was ruled “irresponsible”.
The advert focused on Katona’s previous financial problems and was judged to encourage people in similar situations to borrow money.
