Moorfields Corporate Recovery has been appointed as administrator of a mental health charity.
Mental Health Care Ltd operates the Benfield Hall and Kimblesworth care homes in County Durham – a charity which has been established for over 20 years.
Simon Thomas, joint administrator at Moorfields, said: “The healthcare sector is consistently finding itself in the public spotlight and the specialist care sector is no exception. The challenges over the standard of care and funding cuts have applied constant pressure.”
Mental Health Care Ltd provides residential mental healthcare support for adults with conditions such as anxiety disorder, bi-polar disorder, depression and schizophrenia.
The organisation’s care homes at Benfield Hall and Kimblesworth will continue to operate as normal while the administrators will look to sell them on a going concern basis.
Thomas said: “It is unfortunate that such a well-regarded charity is in administration but the care of the residents is paramount so we will continue to trade the care homes whilst we look for a buyer.
“We have taken steps to ensure the quality and standards of care are maintained and we are committed to ensuring residents experience minimum disruption.”
Shelley Bullman of Moorfields Corporate Recovery has also been appointed joint administrator.
