Coronation Street actress Beverley Callard has been declared bankrupt.
The TV star – best known for pulling pints as barmaid Liz McDonald in the popular soap – has been hit with a bankruptcy order.
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) had petitioned the actress over a reported £60,000 tax bill.
According to the London Gazette, HMRC filed for Callard, of Salford, to be made bankrupt in January under her married name of Beverley McEwan.
Manchester-based Danny Brogan from the Insolvency Service has been appointed Official Receiver (OR) for the 55-year-old actress.
The OR is responsible for protecting the bankrupt’s estate and investigating the individual’s behaviour and affairs.
Callard – who has appeared in Coronation Street for more than 20 years – left the soap in April 2011.
The mother-of-two has also appeared in comedy Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.
