Baker Tilly’s Geoff Carton-Kelly has been appointed trustee of the troubled TV star’s affairs after HMRC petitioned for the TV star to be declared bankrupt.

According to UK tax calculator site, Listen To Taxman, a £370,000 salary would raise a tax bill of £173,000 in one year’s salary.

A bankruptcy order was slapped on the TV presenter in respect of the aforementioned amount back on 11 November last year. Geoff Carton-Kelly of Baker Tilly’s restructuring and recovery division was subsequently appointed Trustee by Secretary of State.

He said: “Investigating and recovering assets for the benefits of creditors is the primary role of the Trustee in Bankruptcy.

“At this stage it is too early to comment on the level of Miss Oliver’s assets and the likely return to creditors.”

The taxman said it had petitioned for Miss Oliver to be declared bankrupt for unpaid taxes amounting to £174,514.47 because this amount had not been collected by the due date set by HMRC.

Oliver is perhaps best-known for presenting Popworld with Simon Amstell.

She left the Channel Four show in 2006 but continued to present on T4. She has hosted shows on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra.
