The Quakers have been forced to cancel the contracts of all playing staff after it entered administration for the third time in nine years.
Joint administrator Harvey Madden, of Rowlands Chartered Accountants, warned that unless a deal is wrapped up as “a matter of urgency, time will have run out of the club”.
And a blog published on supporters website Darlington Away Far Travelling Supporters (DAFTS) urged: “We all want a solution; any solution.
“We can only hope some sort of deal can be thrashed out to keep the club trading while there is more time for the details of a longer term strategy are worked through.
“We now have no players, no manager (at least on the wage bill), no money and seemingly little hope.
“The threat of liquidation is imminent and were are already at the eleventh hour.”
Madden has insisted there are several parties interested in either injecting funds into the Blue Square Bet Premier side or buying the whole club.
According to reports discussions have involved the club leaving its current 25,000-seater stadium and moving to its former ground.
Darlington Council has reportedly confirmed talks focussed on releasing value from the current ground by replacing it with alternative development to safeguard the club’s future.
