Bankrupt accountant forged OR letters to empty account 23 November 2009

Sharon Evans, 49, was bankrupt with a hold put on her bank account when she wrote to her bank, pretending to be the official receiver, to get restrictions lifted so she could get her hands on the £6,913 in the frozen account.

Evans, who ran the practice Hilton Evans and Co, was sentenced to 200 hours of community service on Thursday, November 5, after she admitted three counts of fraud at Reading Magistrates' Court in September.

The OR ordered the bank account be frozen again in May but later that month Lloyds TSB received another fraudulent letter written by Evans posing as the OR asking to lift restrictions.

In a police interview in March this year Evans admitted forging the letters, blaming poor judgment and depression.
