Shares suspended in Barratts Shoes 26 January 2009

The company requested that trading in its AIM-listed shares be suspended pending clarification of its strategic options, adding that a further announcement would be made in due course.

Based in Bradford, the company operates 380 stores under its Barratts and PriceLess brands, and reported a loss of £12.5m in the year to February 2008.

Shoe retailers have suffered badly over the previous year, with [[a|Dolcis-Administration|Dolcis]], [[a|Stead-Simpson-Administration|Stead & Simpson]], [[a|Faith-Footwear-Administration|Faith Footwear]] and [[a|Kate-Kuba-CVL|Kate Kuba]] (supplier of Ugg boots) all falling into administration.
